Day 256 of Current Days: Family
Small things bring great joy when one allows oneself a bit of lightness.
I am listening to a lecture. The professor speaks of shellac. She speaks freely of insects feeding on a tree and secreting resin. We will soon be using this resin to seal the boards. There is no sign of disgust in her, which pleases me greatly.
Later, she mentions that resin comes only from coniferous trees. From fruit trees, what flows is gum. I think she is the first person, not being a naturalist, who knows more about the nature than I do.
During the class, I caught a glimpse of a paper she had with a bird printed on it. I think it’s a coal tit. I ask her for the paper; she gives it to me with a smile. This is how the linocut is born.
I am very sorry, but I couldn’t help myself.
